ABOUT
Alyssa James has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy and Science from Duke University and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from University of Texas at Austin. At UT, she received the Fall 2014 Design Excellence Award, the 2015 American Society of Landscape Architects Graduating Student Award of Merit and 2015 Texas ASLA Annual Conference Student Design Competition Award of Honor. She has been working in the landscape architecture field for the past 8 years and is a registered Landscape Architect in Texas.
She began her career as a studio assistant at Michael Van Valkenburgh, Associates in Brooklyn, NY before receiving her MLA. At MVVA, she worked on many large notable and award-winning projects such as Brooklyn Bridge Park, Tulsa Riverfront Park, and the grounds of the St. Louis Arch. After receiving her Masters she worked as a designer with James David of Gardens and David/Peese designs on high-end residential projects in Texas, New Mexico and California, and then Mark Word Design in Austin, TX on several residential and commercial projects including Austin Motel.
